After a LONG break from our Friday Flex Time due to vacations and winter sports, we're finally back at it this week!
Since it had been so long, we decided to start with a reintroduction to our Problem-Solving Block. The slideshow below reminds us about the importance of perseverance through the metaphor of "The Learning Pit." It was also nice to look back and remember the great work we had done earlier this year looking at our own struggles in the pit and the recognition we received from James Nottingham, who created the idea of the pit.
After our review, we took on two more digital Break Out challenges. They're never easy, but with teamwork, perseverance, and some innovative thinking, we're getting better at solving them each time we try!

During Integrated Inquiry time, we explored the website Wonderopolis, which is filled with interesting facts about any and all topics you could imagine. Our goal was to find a topic that piqued our interest and then start collecting some important information in a graphic organizer (see below) that we could use to guide us if we were to turn this into a project later. It was fun to explore the site, and we found a wide range of amazing information!
Finally, during our PLP time we worked on developing goals for the remainder of the year that will help us focus our efforts. We looked at two cross-curricular goals: expression of feelings & ideas and demonstration of good character in society. We brainstormed some ways that we are already doing these things in various content areas, and we will continue to reflect and plan when we work on our PLPs in future weeks.
