Week 7 was short due to teacher in-services, so we were unable to have our Friday Flex Time activities. But now in Week 8, we're back in action!
During our Problem-Solving time, we spent some time tackling what might be our final outdoor challenge of the Fall. The cold is coming quickly! Students worked in teams on a game called "Snake." This was new to some students, but many others had participated in it before during past years' advisory block. The game is simple: groups form and stay in a line and guide themselves to an item placed on the ground. When they reach the item, the first person in line has to pick it up. So what's the challenge? Well, everyone in the line except for the last person is wearing a blindfold, and the group can only communicate non-verbally. It was very interesting to see the many different methods that groups came up with to locate the items and how they were able to troubleshoot as the game continued and they took on different roles within the group.

During Integrated Inquiry, students picked up where they left off, collecting resources and taking notes on their personal inquiry questions. We have some very intriguing topics, and we are finding some interesting information as this exploration continues!
Our Personal Learning Plan (PLP) time was spent re-examining our individual core values. Students had already chosen the five personal values that are most important to them, and this week they began creating a "Sketchnote" of those core values. The purpose of this activity is to represent these values symbolically and visually so anyone who looks at the illustration will understand what the values mean to the creator. Though our process is not yet complete, there were some excellent ideas shared and the products are coming along nicely!
