Grades 5 8
5th Grade Mathematics
As we begin the third quarter, fifth graders will shift their focus from number sense to fractions. Students will be identifying equivalent fractions, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. We will be using various strategies to gain a deeper understanding of fractions.

6th Grade Mathematics
In the third quarter 6th graders will continue our work with fractions, decimals and percents. Talk with your 6th graders about taxes, tips, and discounts. Connecting mathematics to real life situations is beneficial to the students learning. In addition, these students will be learning about 2D & 3D geometry. Areas of focus will be area and perimeter of rectangles, triangles, and parallelograms. In addition, students will learn about surface area, volume, and constructing nets of various prisms.

7th Grade Mathematics
In 7th grade we are currently focusing on geometry. Students are using angle relationships to find unknown angles. Students are working with vertically opposite angles, complementary and supplementary angles, as well as angles on a line. Throughout this unit students will be incorporating their algebra skills to solve one and two step equations.

8th Grade Mathematics
In the third quarter, students in 8th grade are working on statistics, and probability. Students have been learning about histograms, boxandwhisker plots, and variability in the data.
